Perdita is a one-of-a-kind original pressed flower artwork from A Living Icon Series, inspired by Frida Kahlo and created entirely from real botanicals. This botanical portrait explores themes of identity, resilience, and emotional expression through symbolic floral composition rather than literal representation.
Striking red lips are formed through layered pressed botanicals, surrounded by white daisies and warm yellow and orange florals. A stylized unibrow made from delicate fern fronds completes the composition, referencing Frida’s iconic presence through a botanical language of shape, color, and texture.
The work is built through intentional botanical layering on a repurposed canvas base, where each pressed element is placed to create structure, contrast, and visual rhythm. The result is a portrait that feels both expressive and abstract—defined as much by negative space and gesture as by form.
Pressed flowers were gathered, pressed, and composed over time in Arizona. Natural variation in color, texture, and shape is preserved as part of the work’s character and authenticity.
Framed in a vintage wood frame that adds depth, warmth, and historical texture to the piece. Signed by the artist with wax seal and year. Ready to hang.
Because of the fragile and time-intensive process, Perdita exists as a true original only. No prints or reproductions will ever be made.
